Renee Yarrington is the owner of Mamaste Doula and Birth Services, and a DONA-trained birth doula. Renee has been a Certified Nursing Assistant for a decade, and is also in the process of becoming certified as a Childbirth Educator and Lactation Counselor.

Renee says that the cornerstone of her prenatal and birth philosophy is that “every woman should be able to experience childbirth in any way they choose, and be supported in that process.” Renee’s care is driven by the strong urge to ensure that every woman receives high-quality support, as well as an evidenced-based education, in encouragement of each decision she makes throughout pregnancy, labor, birth, and beyond. A Grovia cloth diaper advocate, Renee will also begin offering cloth diaper classes at the Wilmington Birth Center in August, and offers one-on-one cloth diaper education for parents all over the State in addition to her prenatal and birth care packages.

When we asked Renee what inspires her as a Birth Worker, she shared that, “The one thing I held onto throughout labor was the support of my midwife; I don’t think I could have handled all of the scenarios presented to me without her being there. I knew then that I wanted to give other women the same support that my midwife gave me that day – I want to be an advocate, teacher, and guide for as many women and families as I can. I strive to reassure my clients that while we may not be able to pick and choose exactly how each birth story happens, we do hold the power to change the narrative, and to make the best of even the most challenging situations.” The mother of a young daughter, Renee also looks forward to completing midwifery school in the future.

Renee is based out of New Castle County, and serves women and their families throughout Delaware and parts of Pennsylvania and Maryland. You’re welcome to visit her website, Mamaste Doula & Birth Services, and to get in touch with her via the Mamaste Facebook page.
