Karen Webster, CPM-DE (1)

Karen has been attending births for almost 40 years, and opened up her own home birth practice, WomanWise Midwifery, in 1986. Karen became a CPM in 1995, and was among the very first out-of-hospital midwives in Delaware to become licensed. Woman-centered care is the cornerstone of Karen’s practice.

A former Board Member of the Midwives Alliance of North America, Karen has been instrumental in successful legislative efforts in DE, PA, MD, and NJ. Karen’s home birth clients have included physicians, midwives, first-time mothers, VBAC mothers (though not in DE), and several of her own eight children. Karen visits with clients in-home, and at her two offices – one in Elkton, MD, and one in Wilmington, DE.

Karen says, “At WomanWise, we believe that there is no one “right” path to healthy pregnancy and birth for all women; given support, resources and encouragement, each woman will find what works for her. As a midwife, my job is to provide each pregnant woman with information and resources, and to support her in making the decisions about her pregnancy and birth that are right for her.” A highly respected and career-long preceptor, Karen’s apprentices will take great care of you, too.
